Can I cancel or postpone my test booking?

  • The cancellation/transfer policy is different for paper-based and computer-delivered tests.
  • Paper-based IELTS: You can apply to either cancel your test or transfer your test to another date, as long as you do this no less than 5 weeks before your original test date. To find out when the deadline to cancel or transfer your test is, please check here.
  • Computer-delivered IELTS: You can apply to either cancel your test or transfer your test to another date, as long as you do this no less than 7 days before your original test date.
  • If it is past the cancellation/transfer deadline, we may still be able to cancel/transfer your test, provided that there is a very serious reason for you to be unable to sit your test (e.g. illness). If this is the case, you will need to also provide us with evidence of this (e.g. a medical certificate).

Administrative fee: NZ$90

If you are applying for a refund, the administrative fee will be deducted from the test fees, so you will receive NZ$295 (if you booked your test before 30th June 2021) or NZ$305 (if you booked your test after 1st July 2021).

  • Payable online (by Credit Card) or in person at ELA reception (by Credit Card or EFTPOS).
  • Registration will close 3 days before the test date (unless sold out earlier).
  • Please ensure you know which test version (Academic or General Training) you need to book.
